How do I place an order for an international trade?
All orders, certificate clearance and general enquiries should be directed to our International Equities Team. Late orders can be phones through to Sandra or Jane on their mobiles. Reportings are made the next day to the client adviser. All orders are taken GTC unless otherwise specified.
What if my client has share certificates they want to sell?
If your client has a certificated holding, we can arrange for the certificate to be cleared into electronic form. This usually takes around two weeks and once this has cleared we can execute your sell instructions. Patersons bears no responsibility for any price fluctuations in the security while certificate clearance is pending. Please ensure that you check with Sandra or Jane that this stock can be sold through our service before asking your client to send their certificated in or you sending certificates to us. Patersons do not accept restricted certificates.
What currencies do you trade in?
We report all trades in Australian dollars. Any dividends received while the shares are being held by Patersons on your behalf are also paid in Australian dollars. However, if your client wishes, we can request that the settlement be made in the currency of the home exchange of the security traded, provided that this is advised when the order is placed.
How can I find research on international stock?
Research may be available on request but please note we are an execution only service.
Do I need to open a separate account for international trading?
There is no need for a separate account. However if your client wishes to trade in US securities they will need to complete a W-8BEN form, which declares that you are not a US resident.
