Options & Warrants

Our derivatives specialists can suggest suitable strategies to support your personal investment objectives.

It's important that you discuss your personal circumstances with your Adviser before entering into any strategy.

Derivatives can have many benefits, however they also involve risk and are not suitable for all investors.

At Patersons, we offer advice and trading services in Exchange Traded Options (ETOs) and Warrants.

Exchange Traded Options (ETOs)

ETOs are a type of derivative product, traded on the Australian Securities Exchange, that you can use to:

  • Protect your portfolio
  • Profit from any type of market movement
  • Earn extra income from your shares
  • Increase your returns through leverage
  • Diversify your portfolio

ETOs derive their value from an underlying security, such as a share or an index.

That makes them a flexible alternative to direct investing, giving investors a range of strategies that might otherwise be unavailable.

Warrants

A warrant is a type of derivative product issued by banks and financial institutions and traded on the ASX.

Warrants provide investors with an alternative way to gain leveraged exposure to a variety of underlying assets, such as listed shares and indices.

There are many different types of warrants available for trading or investment including self-funding instalments, trading warrants, MINIs, barrier warrants, commodity warrants, and currency warrants. Each warrant is unique, with its own features and risks, so it's important to have the right advice before you invest.
