Our Perth team prepared a range of dishes including beef stew, mushroom risotto, chicken wings, quiche, and pizza, with cakes and mousse for dessert. In Sydney, it was an ‘American Smokehouse’ themed menu with potato salad, fried chicken, Buffalo wings, beef ribs, and burger patties, with a plum and berry cobbler for dessert. While in Melbourne it was hearty winter roast complete with roast potatoes, meat and gravy.
Parents and carers often return to Ronald McDonald House
after long days spent at Hospital bedside, and cooking dinner may be the last thing on their minds. The ‘Home for Dinner’ program provides mid-week relief and support for these families staying at RMH.
Sourcing ingredients and preparing a homemade dinner goes a long way in easing the pressure for parents and carers, giving them a well-deserved ‘night off’ and allowing them to spend quality time with their families throughout their stay.
All the volunteers had a great time in the kitchen and we are looking forward to partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities again in the future.
